So, I don't really have a lot to talk about today, but I did talk to my nutritionist today because my weight again this morning was 246.6. Nothing is changing! I wanted to give up, but instead I called and talked to her. She gave me some very good advice so I thought I would relay that to you all.
First of all she talked in great detail about how I can't compare my journey with anyone else's because every persons body is different and will respond differently. You see, what I was doing was comparing myself to my cousin who is doing this with me.
***SHOUT OUT TO LISO <-----no that's not a typo :-)****
Anywho, I didn't realize that I was comparing myself to her so much, but I was. I was getting down because she has lost significantly more than I have, and I'm jealous. One month she ate mostly fruits and veggies and lost 16 lbs! I want that. She is doing such a fantastic job and I feel like because I haven't lost as much that I'm not! I was trying to mimic what she did in order to hopefully have the same type of results. That's why I started changing up my diet and exercise programs...I wasn't satisfied with a measly 4 lb weight loss every month. I wanted the 10 or 15 lb weight loss, but instead in the last month I traded in my 4 lbs for a crappy 1 lb weight loss instead. AHHHHHH!!! SO FRUSTRATING! Who ever tells you that weight loss is an easy formula please slap them for me will ya? Don't get me wrong the basics apply to everyone, such as eating fewer calories than you burn, working out, and eating healthy, etc., etc. but you will have to figure what works for you. Sorry, but I had to rant...I'm better now.
Anyway here are the 4 suggestions that my nutritionist gave to me today and for the first time I'm going to listen, maybe I will have more success.
1. STOP STRESSING- Stress affects you weight loss dramatically. It messes with the chemicals and hormones in your brain and can actually make you gain weight. I have a lot of stresses in my life; homeschooling my kids and a rocky relationship are just a few. She suggested that I talk to a therapist who can help me figure out ways to de-stress. I made the call today and they are supposed to call me either Tuesday or Thursday of next week.
2. GET AT LEAST 7 HOURS OF SLEEP PER NIGHT- I can definitely tell you that this is an area that I am super weak, and she said that that can also effect your weight. She said that sleep effects your metabolism, your hunger hormones, your weight, and your mood. So I downloaded an app called "sleep cycle" on iTunes that is supposed to be good at tracking your sleep and will wake you up gradually so I will give it a try tonight.
3. GET BACK TO EXERCISING- For the last two weeks it has not happen very much at all and I need to get back to that immediately. She suggested Cardio 3-4x per week and strength only 2x per week.
4. WATCH YOUR MACROS- Macros, or macro-nutrients, are things like your calories, carbs, fat, protein, etc. So this was her suggestion for me personally.
CALORIES- 1450 per day
CARBS-175 min per day...I was really surprised with that one
FAT- <46 g per day
PROTEIN-46 g-60 g per day
So that's all for now, I will try to still write on the blog at least every other day, if not daily.
Until next time,
Summer

I totally feel your frustration. I'm at a plateau and can't seem to get past it. I know my thyroid is a big issue. I can't believe all the things your thyroid has control over. Just a heads up we definitely can see a difference . Keep up the good work. We just have to keep the faith and ask God for guidance.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marlene, yeah it's been difficult but I won't give up. I am half way there and now I know I can finish what I started! You can definitely tell that you have lost too! :)
